More than 6 000 300 hectares in the province of Guantanamo in 2014 were object of soil conservation measures in order to curb the processes of desertification, drought, salinity, as well as the province´s economic and social development.

Combatants Ernesto Gonzalez Campos, combatant of the Moncada Garrison, and Gilberto Garcia Alonso, member of the Granma yacht expedition, received the Commemorative Seal of Guantanamo City during a visit carried out along the territory, where the necessary link with the history of the country was highlighted.
A profile of almost thirty diploma programs, dozens of courses and advisory services is provided by the University of Guantánamo to business leaders of the territory, with the aim to meet the training needs of the professional force for local development.
Near forty short summer courses will be taught in July in Guantanamo in the 89 schools opening during the summer time, aimed at encouraging children and young people the love for reading, the skills for the interaction with new technology and arts appreciation.
