Pope Francis to Meet Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church in Cuba

The primate of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) Kiril, and Pope Francis, will conduct dialogues in Havana on February 12th, confirmed today Metropolitan Hilarion, head of external relations of the ROC.

The primate of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) Kiril, and Pope Francis, will conduct dialogues in Havana on February 12th, confirmed today Metropolitan Hilarion, head of external relations of the ROC.

The two dignataries will meet in the Jose Marti international airport, in Havana, during the stop of Francis en route to Mexico, and will sign a joint statement, the source added.

Hilarion said that the leader of the ROC will meet with a Latin American pope in lands of this continent, and described the meeting as a historic step by the two churches, but acknowledged that there are many obstacles and problems to solve.
