The representative here of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Theodor Friedrich, stressed the historical cooperation between his institution and Cuba in agriculture, Granma newspaper reported today. Cuba has seriously taken collaboration with FAO, the official said in the eastern Cuban province of Holguin, where he participated in Expociencia, a meeting that promotes and encourages the application in the territory of science and technology in all branches of the economy.

He asserted that the Caribbean island carefully analyzes the proposed projects, and once their application has been determined, implements and monitors them.

Friedrich recalled that FAO assistance has been mainly aimed to very specific agricultural institutes and works, such as a spirulina plant, because of its importance for the food industry.

He said his agency also satisfies him having worked with projects from institutions linked to fishing researches, forestry development, and swine and honey productions, among others.

We are now using our connections to apply knowledge by Cuban experts based on the widening of the South-South cooperation, especially in areas of the Caribbean region, he said.
