Geneva: More Support for Cuba after Fidel's Death

New expressions of support for Cuba and tributes to Fidel Castro took place here today, where the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) sent his condolences to this country.

New expressions of support for Cuba and tributes to Fidel Castro took place here today, where the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) sent his condolences to this country.

In an official statement addressed to Cuban President Raul Castro, UNHCR's head Filippo Grandi expressed his solidarity with the Cuban Government and people in these painful times, said a statement issued by the Cuban Embassy in Geneva.

Another official message of condolences was sent by William L. Swing, head of the International Organization for Migration, who also visited this week the Cuban Embassy to sign the book of condolences.

Last night a crowd of people overflowed the historic Place des Nations, outside the UN headquarters in Geneva, to pay homage to Fidel.

Many speakers highlighted the legacy of historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, whom they described as one of the greatest personalities in the world.
