'Our community long ago endorses the Cuban cause in different international forums, especially in the UN, where we always advocate the raising of the US blockade against the island', stated Soomer to the press after paying tribute to Cuban Apostle José Martí, in the Jose Marti Revolution Square in this capital.
In this sense, she emphasized that the links of friendship and solidarity that join Cuba with the ACS and the Member states of Caricom are solid and with tendency to be more developed.
On the purpose of the celebration this December 8, of the 14th anniversary of the establishment of the Cuba-Caricom Day, accompanied by the Ambassador of Jamaica in Havana, A'Dale Robinson and of the Cuban Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rogelio Sierra, Soomer deposited a flower offering in homage to the National Hero of the island.
'Cuba has a very close relation to ACS and Caricom, and in a general way we feel a special love for with the Cuban people, because I do not believe that there is in the world a nation as who has contributed so much to the development of the health and education in the Caribbean Sea, just like this one', she added.
Also the distinguished visitor made sure that the brotherhood, solidarity and cooperation between both parts will prevail over pressures and difficulties.
During the first Summit Cuba-Caricom, celebrated here on December 8, 2002, remembered to establish this date as day of celebration of the connections between the block and this island of the Caribbean Sea.
