The US magazine Travel + Leisure granted today the Galapagos Islands, from Ecuador, the title of the most beautiful and interesting islands for tourists, as a result of a recent survey conducted among readers. The subscribers of the US travel magazine acknowledged the beauty of an archipelago that boasts a rich, rare wildlife, including a species of turtle from which it got its name.

The subscribers of the US travel magazine acknowledged the beauty of an archipelago that boasts a rich, rare wildlife, including a species of turtle from which it got its name.

In the 21th Century, scientist Charles Darwin found the place fascinating and chose it to develop research leading to his evolutionary theory about the human origin; today it is a real paradise for divers.

On the list of the top 10 most attractive islands in the planet, Bali ranks second and Maldivas third.

The readers of Travel + Leisure also chose Tasmania (Australia) in the fourth place and Santorini (Greece, ranking fifth).

Murea (in the French Polinesia, sixth), Maui and Kauai (Hawaii, seventh and eighth), the Great Barrier Reef (Australia, ninth) and Malta ranks tenth.
