One of the main issues of the meeting, to be concluded on Nov. 19 and presided over by Rodrigo Malmierca, Minister for Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, and Construction Minister, Trinh Dinh Dung, is banking, to which the director of the Central Bank of Cuba (BCC), Maritza Martinez, is participating.
Martinez told Prensa Latina that as of banking agreements signed in the context of the visit of President Truong Tan Sang to the island, we expect to begin a new, wider phase of collaboration between entities of this kind from each country.
One of the objectives is also "to promote the participation of Vietnamese banks in supporting investors and traders of this nation in their businesses with Cuba."
Martinez said the Cuban banking is also provided to give all the necessary assistance in this process of collaboration, so this can be materialized.
During the visit of President Truong Tan Sang to the Caribbean nation, she recalled that two agreements with trade frameworks, one between the National Bank of Cuba (BNC) and the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), and another between the Commerce International Bank S.A. (BICSA) and the latter.
Malmierca stated yesterday night during the opening ceremony of the meeting that a fundamental objective of both countries is to work together for the economic and social development, while the excellent bilateral relations deepen and strengthen, in the context of the celebration, on Dec. 2, of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.
Assessing the course of economic and trade ties and promoting new contents to those relations, is one of the basic objectives of this event.
