Cuba will be receiving nearly 450 professionals and specialists in the Information Technology (TICs) who are participating in the most important LACNIC 25 event of Latin America and the Caribbean about Internet to be carried out from May 2nd through the 6th.
Cuba will be receiving nearly 450 professionals and specialists in the Information Technology (TICs) who are participating in the most important LACNIC 25 event of Latin America and the Caribbean about Internet to be carried out from May 2nd through the 6th.
According to Elisa Alfaro, who is the specialist from the local Institutional Communication Manager´s Office of the Telecommunications enterprise of Cuba S.A (ETECSA), the event will hold sessions at the Convention center of the Cuban capital and will be focused on meetings, debates and forums about the implementation of the IPv6 and cyber security.
The meeting matches up with the related efforts to provide a much better Internet connection to regional nations, especially in the Caribbean zone.
As part of the meeting, Tom Coffen and Latif Ladid, who are two of the most prestigious experts on subjects like the IPv6, will speak about the successful cases in respect of the application of this internet protocol in the region and the information linked to the most frequent computing attacks in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the related proposals about the creation of synergies for the development of Internet, among other aspects.
In addition, the Peering Forum, which is a space that will give the opportunity to talk and negotiate about some peering agreements and transit with the Internet and Content suppliers and the region´s most outstanding and related Traffic Exchange centers, will be carried out.
The meeting, which is one of the most outstanding annual meetings of the Internet community, is organized by the Register of Addresses of Internet of Latin America and the Caribbean (LACNIC), along with ETECSA enterprise and it is expected the participation of world and outstanding Internet leaders.
Oscar Robles, who is the director of LACNIC, highlighted the return to Cuba of the annual meeting of the aforementioned community right when the island is experiencing a significant process of transformations.
“It is a great honor for the LANIC to organize this meeting in Havana city, along with the Cuban community. We have some interesting debates ahead. “Oscar Robles stated.
Jorge Legrá, who is the director of Strategic Process of ETECSA enterprise, stated that he expects the meeting could speed up the IPv6 process of incorporation into the working agenda of the governments and operators of the region.
LANIC , which is the register of Addresses of Internet for Latin America and the Caribbean, is a non-governmental international organization based on Uruguay in 2002.
That organization is responsible of the assignment and Internet administration of the numbering resources of (IPv4 and IPv6) and Autonomous Numbers and Inverse Resolutions, among other resources for the Latin American and the Caribbean region.
ETECSA is an enterprise of a mixed capital that is one hundred percent a Cuban one and it was founded in 1994. It provides telecommunication services based on the world standards and supported by advanced technologies and its organizing structure is part of the Telecommunication centers as a main cell of the business management.
The meeting is also sponsored by the Huawei, Nic.br, Cisco, Internet Society, Copa Airlines, Arbor, Ams-ix and Inflobox brands, respectively.
