The 2nd Course workshop on approaches and tools for disaster risk management and adaptation to climate change - in terms of sustainable development - concludes today.
'Students from 11 Caribbean countries have asked us to continue these training meetings to reduce the vulnerability of our communities,' the general coordinator of the course, Rudy Montero, told Prensa Latina.
'In addition to keynote speeches, representatives of Antigua and Barbuda, Granada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, the Bahamas, Dominica and Suriname, carried out visits to important institutions in Cuba,' he said.
'In response to the request, the final session of the 2nd course workshop will be held today in the westernmost province of Cuba, Pinar del Rio. There, the center for disaster risk reduction management has been developing outstanding projects,' he added.
The Course workshop is a response to an initiative by the Cuban President, Raul Castro, made during the 5th Summit of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) in 2014.
