Some of them are not among us, but they have left their legacy for us and their unconditional effort to the people which is that one that we keep in our hearts without forgetting it, taking into account, they continue being our dear announcers.
The ´Onda de la Alegría´ program was the radio program of those prestigious and popular announcers for decades. However, the passage of time and the painful physical absence of some of them seems less real due to the legacy left by them to us to the extent that they seems to be among us whether recording or giving a wise advice to the youngest people or even talking or laughing through the corridors of the well-known building that is located on the local Infanta and 25 Streets.
“The announcer is the voce that identifies a radio station and Radio Progreso station always had its iconic voice. It was always a radio station with a high acceptance, according to the surreys which were then carried out and no one has even been able to change the style of this radio station.” Fernando Alcorta, is a prestigious announcer with an outstanding work, commented.
He was granted the Nacional Culture Prize, the National Radio Prize of the year 2009 and travelled to the former Soviet Union to narrate on Radio Progreso station the journey to the outer space by Cuban Arnaldo Tamayo.
As for Julio Alberto Casanova, the artist with outstanding merits of the Cuban Radio and Television, remembers with great affection his first steps on the Cuban radio when he played the main role of a soup opera of Máximo Gorki.
Although he participated in some TV dramatized spaces. He was working on Radio Rebelde station until his death on September, 2008. It was for many years the iconic voice of the popular ´Nocturno´ and ´Aires de España´ programs.
In the eastern Oriente province, Eduardo Rosillo began as one of the most popular and beloved announcers of the Radio in Cuba. There are spaces such as the ones entitled ´Alegrías de Sobremesa´ program, musical ones, ´La Discotecas del Ayer´ and ´Un Domíngo con Rosillo´ program. Just to mention some of them, which marked some guidelines in the history of the national Radio broadcasting. His charisma and related great knowledge placed him among the first local announcers.
Likewise, Juan Ramón González Ramos, one of the main voices of the Cuban ´Tatica´ broadcasting as he was locally known by everyone, transcended the frontiers of his home San Antonio town and a stylistic personality which improved the ´Nocturno´ program where he had the great chance to be an announcer of some dramatized radio spaces at the same time.
Meanwhile, Agustín Roque Fuentes was considered as a humble man from the town, a hardworking man who loves his motherland. He used to narrate novels, reciting, standing on that stage and sayings words, greatly.
With a multifaceted personality, Manuel Andrés Mazorra is a true radio man and we have the privilege to have him among the local announcers on the Cuban family.
“The congratulation is not individual and it is for the Cuban radio and the National Radio Prize that can be summarized through the effort that many people of the world of the sound.” Manuel Andrés Mazorra pointed out.
It will be soon celebrated the 95th anniversary of the first continue radio broadcasts in Cuba, therefore, that date demands new challenges.
