At 12.08 a.m. this Friday, a Boeing 737-200 leased by Cubana de Aviación Airlines, crashed with foreign crew and 104 passengers on board, making the journey from Havana to Holguin on flight DMJ 0972.
At the moment of the takeoff, the aircraft rushed ashore between the José Martí International airport and Santiago de Las Vegas.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, is in the place of the disaster along with other authorities of the country.
The Director of Air Transport, Mercedes Vázquez, informs that it is a flight of the Damojh Company.
According to preliminary information, the plane fell near Terminal 1, in an area of agricultural crops, in the municipality of Boyeros.
There is an intense column of smoke in the vicinity of the airport that apparently leaves the burning ship.
At present there is a large deployment of medical assistance, supported by forces of the National Police and the Fire Department in the area of Rancho Boyeros.
At least 3 passengers survived the plane crash.
Rescue forces do their response work in the place. Later we will give more information on the disaster.
