National Bus CompanyOn January 10, the National Bus Company (EON, in Spanish) will start charging amount of excess baggage, a measure that will increase the weight to be transported per per passenger by up to 30 kilograms.

Alberto Ramos, general director of the entity, reported today in a press conference that Resolution 213/2018 of the Ministry of Finance and Prices, published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cuba on December 24, establishes that it will remain exempt from payment up to 20 kilograms (kg) children over 12 years, and half for children under that age.

Those who wish to carry more cargo must pay, in case of the first five kg, 10 pesos in national currency for each kg; for more than five and up to 10 kg, 20 pesos for each kg; while for more than 10 and up to a maximum limit of 30 kg, 30 pesos per kg.

According to Ramos, the resolution seeks to make it easier for the population to transport their luggage when it exceeds the approved limit, an action that until now, as it was not regulated, caused discomfort in the clients, as well as the occurrence of illegalities.

He explained that this service will only be offered in the terminals and stations, because it is where the conditions for the weighing of the bags are created, and in the case of those boarding in intermidiate or beyon points, they can only carry up to 20 kg.

Aidel Linares, commercial deputy director of the EON, explained that in order to seek greater order, the baggage will be personal and non-transferable, and each package may weigh only up to 30 kg.
