Cuba Reiterates Willingness to Strengthen Ties with its Emigration

Cuba's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez, reiterated the will of the island's government to strengthen relations with its emigration, in a meeting with Cubans living in Guyana, where he is finishing an official visit.

The Cuban Foreign Minister also spoke with Cuban collaborators in this country, an exchange that he considered very useful.

It is very gratifying to exchange with the Cuban collaborators in Guyana, to know about their work, their positive results, and to dialogue about our Island, its current situation and our firm conviction to resist and win, he added in another tweet.

As part of this official visit, Rodriguez held a meeting with Guyanese President David Arthur Granger, in which both parties ratified 'the positive state of bilateral relations and the common will to continue working for their permanent strengthening.

The Cuban diplomat also met with his homologue, Karen Cummings, and the Prime Minister of Guyana, Moses Veerasammy Nagamootoo, in exchanges in which they agreed to strengthen political and economic ties.

Guyana is the third stop on his Caribbean tour, which also took him to St. Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago.

It also participated in the sixth Caricom-Cuba ministerial meeting, held in Cuba, where the participating States reaffirmed their desire to consolidate the unity of the Caribbean and strengthen links between the various countries.

Cuba and Guyana established diplomatic relations in December 1972, from which moment both countries weave a history of firm solidarity, according to the Antillean Foreign Ministry.

Cuba appreciates Guyana's support in the Cuban demand for the lifting of the U.S. blockade and expresses its desire to continue promoting cooperation in the field of medicine, strengthening the work of the Medical Brigade in favor of the health of the Guyanese.
