Diaz Canel in Guantanamo“This a very revolutionary, noble, heroic and hardworking people, also very combative,” told to the press the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, at the end of a tour Thursday to different areas of the Teaching General Hospital "Doctor Agostinho Neto", as part of the second working agenda of this government to the province.

Díaz-Canel next to the Guantanamero people has lived during hours an intensive day. A town on which he highlighted "the passion and self-esteem with which they defend their conquests, with which they defend their work, with which they defend what they are achieving and what they are doing." And that shows that there is a lot of cohesion, that there is unity ... and once again the values of this town come to light, he valued.

The Cuban president spoke with patients and workers in the largest health care center in the province, where he was accompanied by the vice president of the Council of Ministers, Roberto Morales Ojeda, and other leaders of the territory. He questioned each other about the quality of services, the hygiene of the rooms, the working conditions of doctors, the link with medical schools and their impact on the training of future professionals.

The Head of State left a clear message for those who make this medical institution a reason for life, founded by the Commander in Chief in 1985. "I wrote what I feel," he said after signing the visitor's book, where he expressed his recognition “to the work they have done to overcome deficiencies, face adversities and strengthen the institution’s work system.”

That effort, taken on with full responsibility - he wrote - makes today the work environment, patient satisfaction and recognition of the population is superior. “Now we have to strengthen what has been achieved, they showed that it can be done and therefore, in the future, it will also be possible.”

In his words was then the challenge to do a better job every time and continue to overcome the problems that were raised by relatives of hospitalized patients last year, during the first government visit to Guantanamo.

At night surrounded by the people in the central street Pedro Agustín Pérez, Díaz-Canel enjoyed a pleasant moment enlivened by authentic Cuban music at the Rubén López Sabariego Culture House.

Accompanied by the vice president of the Council of Ministers, Jorge Luis Tapia Iglesias, and the head of Internal Trade, Betsy Díaz Velázquez, then visited the Venus restaurant, a cozy space designed for the enjoyment of the Guantanamo people.

A nice climax put an end to the night. And that was when the gentle voice of the architect Zulma Ojeda, director of the Integral Development Group of the city, took us with her words back to the history of the foundation of the city to lead us to a present, in which through the Project Origin the heritage values of buildings and their environments are rescued.
