Cuban First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel,arrived in Beijing, China leading the Cuban delegation that will participate in the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the Victory of Chinese People in the World War II.
After visiting the Museum of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression just some few hours of his arrival, and after being received by Vice President, Li Yuanchao, the Cuban leader spoke with the Latin American News Agency.
We have to begin as of the fact that relations between Cuba and China are historical and they develop on that basis, based on a political will of the leaders of the two countries at all stages of the revolutionary processes experienced by the two countries, he said.
He recalled that Cuba, for example, was the first Latin American country to recognize the People's Republic of China and established ties with this ancient country.
We are precisely celebrating the 55th anniversary of the establishment of such ties, and it was Fidel Castro at a rally at the Revolution Square where, sharing with the people, reported that the diplomatic relations with China were established, so the way those ties emerged have that beauty, he said.
For Diaz-Canel, in recent years, the relations between these States have long been deepening with a relaunching of the ties that, in his opinion, has a lot to do with the successful visit of Chinese President, Xi Jinping, to Cuba last year.
As of that visit, a very important dynamics of work has been unleashed, such as the intergovernmental commission with the participation of both parties that has identified a group of programs of much impact in the economic and social development for our country for the 2016-2020 period, he said.
He also added that Beijing is an important partner from the financial viewpoint, because it provides Havana a group of financial facilities, not only loans, but also donations or at short-medium term insurances that also facilitate the development of the main lines of the Caribbean island.
