Orthopedists from 15 Countries Meet in Cuba

About 300 delegates from 15 countries are exchanging concepts and updating criteria at the 26th International Congress on Orthopedy and Traumatology, taking place in this central-eastern Cuban city today.

The president of the organizing committee, Rodrigo Alvarez Cambra, said at a news conference that establishing bases for future collaboration and joint development programs in the world of orthopedics are also proposed.

He noted that efforts made for orthopedics in the Caribbean island keep on being a specialty recognized worldwide as one of the most important in America.

The also Doctor of Science and Research reported that in this 2015 edition of the International Congress on Orthopedics and Traumatology, running until Saturday, Sept. 26, participants will discuss on Breech deformities, Current situation in knee and shoulder arthroscopy, Minimally invasive surgery in Orthopedics, Trauma to the spine, and New features in orthopedics.

Also on the list are Affliction of the lumbar-sacra spine, Child hip, Complex disorders of hip in adults, Advances of Orthopedics in external fixation, Injuries of high performance athletes, as well as in dance and circus, with treatments that allow them to stay active.

The General Assembly of the Cuban Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology will be held on Friday, Sept. 25, and the work of a group of renowned experts, pioneers and logos from several generations, will be recognized.

Delegates to the 26th International Congress on Orthopedics and Traumatology will honor Major General of the Cuban Liberation Army, Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz, pay a posthumous tribute to dancer, teacher, choreographer and director of Cuban ballet companies, Fernando Alonso Rayneri(1914-2013).
