The President of Nauru, Baron Waqa Divavesi, will arrive today to Cuba to pay an official visit.
During his stay, the also Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Public Administration, the Interior and Climate Change will hold official talks with the Cuban dignitary, Raul Castro, and will develop other activities.
Cuba and Nauru, which established diplomatic relations on May 7, 2002, share concern about the current international climate regime and its implications for developing countries, particularly small island states.
Since the start of cooperation in health over 15 collaborators from Cuba have served in that country.
Currently, four students from Nauru are studying Medical Sciences in Cuba.
Nauru, with an area of 21 square kilometers and a population of 10,500 inhabitants votes in favor of the UN resolution against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.
The island of the Pacific Ocean, which declared independence on 31 January 1968 is located 42 kilometers south of the Equator and 4,000 kilometers northeast of Sydney, Australia.
