Cuban industry has historically been affected by the blockade imposed by the United States which prevents the island from acquiring technologies in the international market, reported today the Ministry of Industries (Mindus).

That cruel policy prohibits access to techniques set worldwide and that could be obtained at beneficial costs for the economy of the Caribbean nation, stated the general director of industrial management of that institution, Adriana Barceló.

The industrial sector is completely alien to the measures that President Barack Obama, adopted last December 17 to ease the blockade against Cuba, she added.

At a press conference Mindus spokeswoman stated that while many entrepreneurs around the world are interested in trade with Cuba, the U.S. businessmen can not do so because of the blockade.

The expert recognized there are opportunities for U.S. business both through the ordinary trade and through the investment in the opportunities offered by the domestic industry.

The portfolio of options presented by Cuba last year to be updated in the forthcoming International Fair of Havana (FIHAV) shows the wide range of possibilities offered by the Cuban industry.
