Vice President of the Republic Salvador Valdes ratified on Tuesday that Cuban government efforts are focused on satyisfying the people's needs and, therefore, on continuing to advance towards a prosperous socialist society.
Miguel-Diaz-Canel was elected President of the Republic of Cuba this Thursday, by absolute majority of National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP, Cuban Parliament) members, in a free, direct and secret vote, during the Fourth Extraordinary Session of this legislative body.

Cuba Elects the New Presidency of the Parliament and State Council
From this October 10, in the Fourth Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernández was elected as president of this Cuban legislative body, with 99.83 percent of the votes, while Ana María Mari Machado, remained as vice president and Homero Acosta Álvarez to serve as Secretary.
