Dsc. Juan Teijeiro Amador, who is the author of the aforementioned software, stated to Radio Rebelde news station that there were over thousand of surgeries carried out not only to Cuban patients but also to different nations at the local CIREN center.

The specialist of CIREN pointed out that the Spanish and three Argentine hospitals are the main clients of the program which have acquired each system at a cost of $ 30.000 dollars and there are $ 10.000 and 15.000 ones for each new version given the national and foreign neurosurgeries´ needs.

The creator of the system, which was designed to be used by a personal computer at a minimum cost, pointed out the use of that computer product as part of a surgery and the related retrospective study about that casuistry.

“The Cuban software has the European Quality brand which has allowed its marketing and its use in Europe since 1996.” He added.

In surgeries and after using the local anesthesia in a certain area of the human head´s skin, the neurosurgeons are carrying out a small incision by introducing a really thin electrode with very little damage to the brain of the patient who remains awake and watching the procedure and the computer that shows in real time the signal caught by that instrument.

The aforementioned system is one of the achievements of International Neurological Restoration Center (CIREN) which is an advanced medical scientific institution that was founded on February 26th, 1989 by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
