He previously explained that patients suffering from chronic peripheral arterial insufficiency, arthropathy knees and liver cirrhosis have also been treated using stem cells.
About 80 patients have been treated in this way with satisfactorily results using cells taken from the patient's own body, at the Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial Hospital in Ciego de Avila, some 430 kilometers east of Havana.
The use of the Cuban medicine Hervital, a stem cell mobilizer, has assisted people with acute ischemic strokes and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, he said.
