Anti-polio campaign begins in Guantanamo From February 26 to March 3, the first stage of the 56th National Anti-Polio Vaccination Campaign will be held in Guantanamo, where more than 27 000 children under one month of birth to 2 years, 11 months and 29 days old will be immunized.

 

Dr. Eglis Quiala Ducás, Chief of the Provincial Section of Nursing, said that drops administered orally has few adverse effects, however precise observation is required after administering the dose.

He stressed that the main contraindications are related to diarrhea, fever and vomiting; However, after the campaign deadline, there will be a week of recovery so that the children at the time of vaccination can be immunized.

The nurse also said that parents should go to the vaccination unit in their health area where all resources, human and material, are available to carry out this activity.

During the development of the vaccine campaign, they warm families that children should not eat or drink water 30 minutes before or after vaccination, nor should it be applied to immunodepressed infants.
