In order to increase quality and improve services, Guantanamo joins the computerization project as part of the policy developed by the country in the public health sector.
The initiative with background in the 70s, currently has a new horizon that includes infrastructure, computer solutions, as well as the training of workers, said Ramón Enrique Bartelemy Matos, head of the computer department at the provincial office of Health.
The director affirmed that one hundred percent of the polyclinics located in the 24 health areas of the province are already connected to the INFOMED network, with a bandwidth that allows work in the system to take control of the deceased and register patients with chronic diseases, among other options that facilitate the work of specialists.
The new computerization project also allows for the incorporation of the GALENCLÍNICAS system, which has been installed at the provincial and Baracoa hospitals, to control the number of patients admitted, the existence of beds and will gradually include control of digital clinical records.
Similarly, the General Teaching Hospital Doctor Agostinho Neto has three ultrasound services, the mammography, the x-ray areas and the 320-slice CT scanner services which facilitates the screening and evaluation of the patient from any consultation.
The computerization project that began in the country in 2017 and extends to 2030, currently allows 45 of 122 Guantanamo pharmacies in the territory to be connected, with priority of those located in hospitals and areas with a large population .
Likewise, users who wish to install an application in their mobile phones to know in real time the existence of medicines will benefit.
