This Saturday more than seven hundred young people graduated as new health professionals from the University of Medical Sciences of Guantanamo (UCM), a center that celebrates a decade of its foundation with achievements in teaching and scientific and investigative work.
Dr. Nuria Pérez Delgado, rector of the UCM, said that this academic year becomes the highest percent of approved in quantity and quality, as a result of the sacrifice of those who are trained with a sense of humanism and professionalism in medical careers, Dentistry and Nursing.
The ceremony was attended by the top political authorities and the government of the territory who recognized the vocation and efforts of all the graduates, especially 12 who, for their teaching and research experience, received the Scientific Merit Award and more than twenty as members of the vanguard movement Mario Muñoz Monroy.
Similarly 67 young people graduated with Honor diploma, in particular the most integral graduate of the Commonwealth of the Dominican Republic, Dr.Josian Sebastien with an academic marks of 4.53 points and the dentist María Cristina Rivera Toledano, the best student with a general marks of 4.98 points.
Other graduates were recognized for their results in teaching, culture, sports and as a student leader, among them the doctors, Narciso Martínez Díaz, Carlos Chávez Pérez, Alejandro Ramírez Leyva and Ariel Mesa Hernández.
During the graduation gala of the UCM, the presence of relatives of the 14 foreign scholars from ten nations that formed in this center celebrating its tenth anniversary and the 37th anniversary of the Creation of the Detachment Carlos Juan Finlay .
The University of Medical Sciences of Guantanamo concludes the 2018_2019 academic year with five hundred and seventy-five graduates of the Medicine career, one hundred and seventeen in Dentistry and 48 in Nursing, which will strengthen the public health system in Cuba from the dissimilar sites of this mountainous region.
