Guantanamo.-On our working visit through the municipalities of the southern coast stripe of Guantánamo, eastern region of Cuba, we arrived at San Antonio de Sur, a territory with fertile lands, plains, valleys and mountains. It is located to the north with the Yateras Municipality, to the south with the Caribbean Sea, to the west with Caimanera and Manuel Tames municipalities and to the east with Imias and Baracoa municipalities.

Agriculture is the main economic activity. There is the Caujerí Valley, a natural organic garden, where the Cuban State has made important investments that ensure progressively increasing the harvests of vegetables and grains distributed to the local population and others such as the provincial capital.

The most outstanding industry is the modern canning factory built in the center of Valle for processing tomato, fruit and other vegetable products.

San Antonio del Sur has a well-designed network of police stations, maternity homes and family doctor and nurse offices to provide health care to residents even in the most remote areas of its geography. There are also schools and other centers aimed at the education of children, youth and adults at different teaching levels.
