Guantánamo – 46 portable electric power generators, donated by Cuban friends around the world, are already in the warehouses of the Universal Guantánamo commercial and Service Company for immediate distribution, as part of the aid in the recovery of the territories affected by Hurricane Oscar on October 21.

By decision of the Provincial Defense Council, these electric plants will be located in different service delivery centers that will allow giving vitality to different communities that were affected in San Antonio del Sur, Imías, Baracoa and Maísi.

Engineer Mario Téllez, a specialist in energy generation in Guantánamo, explained that “modern electric generators can generate between 6,500 and 6,800 watts, according to the models that arrived in the province.”

“These are very practical devices,” he explained, “to be placed in medical offices, guard or command corps or different institutions that provide health or other services to the population that resides in hard-to-reach areas and that do not have electric service in the Guantanamo territory.”

At the time of this report, the entry and reception of the more than 60 donations that arrived in Guantanamo continues, 50 of them from different provinces, political and mass organizations and national organizations and 10 from international cooperation and collaboration.
