Guantanamo.- From January 15th to the 29th of this month, the Villanueva Day of the Cuban Theater takes place in Guantánamo to be commemorated on the 22nd of this month, with a broad program of artistic presentations, exhibitions and a theoretical section, sponsored by the Provincial Council of Performing Arts in the territory.
During this event, the Guiñol Guantánamo Theater invites public to enjoy the staging of the works: «Patatos son los cuentos», by the group La Barca, and «Luna de Lobos», by Teatro de la Totalidad, the latter group also with the play “Oshosi, to be performed at the Provincial Pediatric Hospital Major General Pedro Agustín Pérez.
Likewise, the headquarters of the Guiñol Theater displays the photo exhibition for the occasion, while the CMKS Radio Station will broadcast the program «Pa’ la oreja un cuento» and the Provincial Committee of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) will host the Panel: Design in Guantanamo Theater. Characteristics and challenges, with the participation of the creators of this artistic expression of the territory, Emilio Vizcaíno, Ury Rodríguez, Alexander Balbier and Daniel Núñez, director of the La Celosía gallery,
As part of the celebration in Guantánamo of the Cuban Theater Day, on January 22nd that marks the 156th anniversary of the events of Villanueva, the José Martí central park of this eastern city will become the venue of a great Theater Fair, performed by the groups La Barca, Teatro de la Totalidad, Guiñol, the Carpandilla Circus Variety Group, the Danza Libre Company and the Conatus Saxophone Quintet.
Likewise, the event Crusades in the City, a prelude to the mountainous artistic journey of the 35th Guantánamo-Baracoa Theatrical Crusade, is also part of the Villanueva’s activities, which will take place from January 23 to 28 with the performance of the group Guiñol Guantanamo and Pequeño Príncipe, from Bayamo, in communities and cultural institutions.
