Guantanamo.- Promoting the most representative artistic and literary creation of the territory, as well as recognizing its main exponents, is the beginning of the celebration of the 46th Guantanamo Culture Week, from February 18 to 24, a program that provides a space for remembrance of history, cultural heritage and the transmission of values to the new generation.
At the press conference, held in the Zona de Arte, in the Guantánamo City, Eliomar Fuentes Caboverde, municipal director of Culture, pointed out that the main activities of the program include the presentations in the outskirt neighborhoods of the territory, where community projects are the protagonists of the artistic event.
Dedicated to the 147th anniversary of the birth of poet Regino Eladio Boti, the 155th anniversary of the granting of the title of Villa to Guantánamo, and the 130th anniversary of the Uprising at Finca La Confianza, the Culture Week will be a space to reflect on the values that identify the capital municipality of the easternmost province, the significance of historical events and Guantanamo thought in the different epochs of independence struggles, in addition to promoting debates about the legacy that future generations will inherit.
The 46th Guantanamo Culture Week turns into a sociocultural event, in which music, dance, literature, theater and cinema will reach the most vulnerable neighborhoods, schools, work centers and institutions, such as the University of Guantánamo and the Rubèn Lòpez Sabariego Cultural Center, which celebrate the forty and forty-five years of their foundation.
