Guantánamo.- Promoting dialogue between the Cuban dance scene professors and the new generations of choreographers and dancers is the main purpose of the 10th Young Choreographers Meeting, which will take place in the province of Guantánamo from May 13 to 17.
The event will focus on choreographic scripts analyzed through master classes, productions, lectures, and evening performances. These will feature figures such as Santiago Alfonso Fernández, awarded with the 2006 National Dance Award.
Lievan García Valle, director of the National Folkloric Ballet of Cuba, Luisa Santienteban, and other guests will also collaborate with dance companies which will develop a program for the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and the promotion of talent in the field of dance in Cuba.
Among the participants are the professional local companies such as the Babul Folkloric Ballet, Danza Libre, and Danza Fragmentada, and the K’merino project, as well as other groups from the province.
This initiative is sponsored by the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) and the province’s cultural institutions.
