Guantánamo. – The Provincial Delegation of Territorial Planning and Urbanism (INOTU), in Guantánamo called on the population to comply with the updating of the property titles of their properties, and warns about the proximity of the expiration of Resolution 59 which established in five years (four have already passed) the period of legitimization of the properties.

The note warns that to date there are no signs of extending the Resolution, a legal instrument enabled for homeowners to register or update the legal description of their properties, adjusting it to the construction modifications made without the proper legal backing.

Resolution 59, along with Resolutions 58 and 60, all from 2020, was conceived to respond to a demand of the population: the possibility of legalizing extensions, divisions, unifications or rehabilitations of homes carried out outside of the established formalities.

Before it came into force, there was no administrative way to correct these discrepancies between the physical reality of the property and what is reflected in the title deed.
