Guantanamo.- The “Humberto Sócrates Villalón Hechavarría” Center for Cultural Training is commemorating its 40th anniversary under the theme “40 Years of Sharing Knowledge: A Legacy That Transcends,” celebrating its significant contributions to education, artistic creation, and cultural commitment in Guantánamo Province.
This milestone reflects a rich history of fostering community engagement and promoting cultural initiatives, including the recent unveiling of the photographic collection “Memories of a Journey” on October 19, coinciding with Cuban Culture Day at the Guantánamo Puppet Theater.

The exhibition showcases four decades of the center’s dedication to pedagogical and artistic endeavors, highlighting projects such as “Culture and Longevity” and various scientific symposiums that underscore the expertise of its staff.
The event was graced by the presence of the center’s founders, specialists, and staff, along with renowned bolero singer Paula Villalón, who participated in a panel discussion titled “Memories of a Journey.”
During this discussion, Villalón emphasized her father’s lasting
impact as a notary, musician, and educator, noting his pivotal role in expanding the institution from its origins as a popular music school to a vital cultural hub that has significantly shaped the region’s artistic landscape.
