Guantanamo.- Intensive preparation by the province’s leadership and management bodies, together with the implementation of various defensive measures, marked National Defense Day in Guantánamo.

The training day, led by Yoel Pérez García, president of the Provincial Defense Council, focused on the principle of preventing war through readiness and being prepared to fight if necessary.

The exercise is a central element of territorial defense in the Caribbean Defense Zone and reflects Cuban military doctrine, which is based on the concept of an “all-people’s war.” This approach relies on the deployment of the territorial defense system and the use of society’s and the state’s resources and capabilities in response to an attack.

A key component of the exercise was the evacuation of residents in response to a simulated air raid.

National Defense Day was preceded on the 4th and 5th by the Moncada 2026 Strategic Exercise, which aimed to develop plans for the province and its municipalities to confront a potential act of aggression.
