At the end of the 2017-2018 academic year, the University of Medical Sciences of Guantanamo is renowned nationally and internationally for the training of human capital and the high scientific and technical quality of students and professors, which respond to the needs of the health sector and the welfare of the population.
Among the main results stand out the teaching categorization, having 12 senior lectures, around one hundred and fifty assistant professor, and about six hundred instructors.
In the same way it rises in the number of doctors in sciences, masters and specialists in second degree, responsible for the training of future physicians and those who choose the 49 specialties that are offered according to the plan of careers, of these only 9 are not studied in the province.
This university center contributes with the formation of knowledge through research and publications of social impact and develops ideologically political work, in order to promote values such as solidarity, patriotism and humanism that characterize Cuban society.
The more than one thousand young people who are trained in the University of Medical Sciences during the present school year also participated in several events such as the Youth Congress, the second workshop Forever Fidel, the Marti Youth Seminary , the Forum of History, in the latter they obtained first national place.
