The return to the classrooms of the teenagers Ana Lorena Luis and Alejandro Díaz, is something special, gone are the memories of happy summer days, trips to the beaches, rivers and visits to interesting places, since this September 3, these students from the Vocational School José Maceo Grajales and the pre-university Ramón Infante Garcia, will do their best to successfully conclude the twelfth grade, and pass the entrance exams to achieve a university degree.
Similar efforts, goals and dreams are also multiplied in the more than 89,998 students of the different teaching levels in Guantánamo, to whom the Cuban state, assured resources and indispensable materials to improve their knowledge in different subjects such as: History of Cuba, Mathematics , English, spelling, grammar and other subjects to be taught during almost 11 months of the school term.
In Guantanamo, one of the three most outstanding territories at the country level in the previous school year, 766 schools on Monday opened, six more than last year, thanks to the investment program executed by the Provincial Directorate of Education, which I made it possible to improve the image and comfort in almost 200 schools, most of the primary, secondary, and infant education.
In the same way, during the summer stage, they also work intentionally in sports areas, workshops, computer rooms, libraries, physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology laboratories, so that students strengthen their cognitive abilities, attitudes and values from the first day of class, clearly supported by the family and the more than 11 thousand professionals who will teach in the territory of Guantanamo.
To overcome for this new academic year, the 82 percent of students approved in the entrance exams to Higher Education and the results in the national knowledge competitions for more than 9 consecutive years are priorities for principals, methodologists, specialists and teachers.
To this end, the link between the school, the family and the community must be strengthened from the first day in order to promote innovative actions, which will help the teacher to teach new classes, improve themselves, investigate and discover through methodological work for broader understanding of students.
This educational mission also requires the unconditional support of parents and guardians who are authorized to attend the meetings planned by the schools, to help enforce the school rules, and to supervise the proper use of the uniform and independent study, among other missions oriented by the school from September.
This academic year 2018 -2019 brings with it greater organization, dedication and dedication not only to educators, and the family, but also to young people like Ana Lorena Luis and Alejandro Díaz, Guantanamo students, who started classes in Guantanamo, convinced of doing their best and above all, gain greater consecration and responsibility in pursuit of the proposed goals.
