The University of Guantanamo (UG) and the The Antonio Jimenez Foundation for Man and Nature (FANJ) will sign a collaboration agreement today. The scientific-environmental organization is represented by its vice-president, the renowned Cuban scientist Ángel Graña González.
On the part of the UG will sign the work agreement with its general rector, PhD. Alberto Turro Breff, who previously - together with deans and vice-rectors of the center - held a meeting with the aforementioned researcher and geographer from Havana, in order to define the main purposes, actions and priorities of the alliance between both institutions.
During his exchange visit this week, the FANJ Vice President fulfills a busy schedule that included, this Wednesday, in the theater of the University of Guantanamo, the conference «In Canoe from the Amazon to the Caribbean» , where he related details of that expedition in which he participated 30 years ago and headed by Núñez Jiménez, an eminent Cuban scientist.
Graña González, who was expedition partner and personal friend of who is considered the fourth discoverer of Cuba, also spoke with professors from the biology, geography, forestry and agronomy departments of the university campus of Guantanamo, and this Thursday in the morning will give another conference in the Provincial Directorate of Culture.
These days the 80-years-old scientist visited the Department of Local Development of the UG and the area that will host the Science and Technology Park, and today in the afternoon will close its schedule with the signing of the agreement that will promote joint projects and research, focused primarily to contribute to the environment education, the society-environment harmony.
