The short cycle courses begin for the first time at the University of Guantanamo this October for young people who aspire to study profiles of pedagogical sciences in order to strengthen the coverage of teaching staff in the easternmost province of Cuba.
"As part of the transformations that take place in Higher Education, this new modality of studies has material resources and has a period of two years," said at CMKS Radio Station by Juan Ramón Borges Medina, provincial income secretary.
In keeping with this purpose, a total of 170 of applicants were registered in the province in the Spanish and Biology specialties, while for health 52 were registered in Occupational Therapy or Rehabilitation, Hygiene and Epidemiology and others.
Ramón Borges Medina, provincial secretary of admission, said that there is still enrollment for young people under 25 years old who aspire to train as a teacher in the careers of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, History, Geography, Spanish and Literature among other branches that are still deserted.
The opening of short-cycle courses at Guantanamo University responds to the need to train qualified teachers in different branches of pedagogy and medical services within two years, as well as to increase enrollment rates in Higher Education.
