Guantanamo.- More than 50 percent of the power lines damaged by Hurricane Oscar in the Guantanamo municipality of Imías have already been restored and intensive work is underway to repair the damage in the shortest possible time.
This was reported by Dominador Sánchez Cobas, a network and systems specialist at the Basic Electric Organization (OBE) in the coastal municipality.
The Guantánamo Province was hit by Oscar on October 21, as a category one hurricane with heavy rains and strong winds.
The municipalities of the eastern region as Maisí, Baracoa, San Antonio and Imías have been heavily battered by this event, where there have even been levels of flooding that were not historically recorded.
