Guantanamo.- On Sunday morning, magnitude-6.0 earthquake on the Richter scale, affected several provinces in eastern Cuba, about 48 kilometers southeast of the town of Pilón, in Granma. Enrique Diego Arango Arias, head of the National Seismological Service of Cuba at the National Center for Seismological Research (CENAIS), confirmed the information to Cubadebate.
The epicenter was located at coordinates 19.74 and 76.93 and the earthquake occurred around 10:50 a.m.
Some residents of the area reported that the earthquake was felt strongly, while similar reports are coming in from neighboring provinces.
The governor of Granma assures that the authorities are waiting for more detailed information from Cenais.
