Guantanamo.- More than fifty papers and keynote speech related to medical sciences and innovative solutions in the health sector will be presented from July 22 to 24 at the 9th Doctor Agostinho Neto In Memoriam Symposium, which will be held at the General Teaching Hospital that bears the name of the Angola’s National Hero, in Guantánamo Province.
His Excellency José Santana D. Guerra, Counselor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of Angola in Cuba, will participate in the event’s debates. He visited the facilities of the largest healthcare center in Guantanamo this Monday and exchanged views with doctors, technical specialists, and executives.
The ninth Agostinho Neto In Memoriam Symposium will contribute to strengthening Cuba’s historical and cultural ties and international collaboration with Angola and the African continent, explained Dr. Idalberto Creagh Bandera, director of the emblematic health institution, which will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its inauguration by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro on July 26.
Another objective of the meeting will be to reactivate the framework project for integration and international collaboration between Cuba, Angola, and Africa, promoted by the Doctor Agostinho Chair of Studies, to unite the efforts of scientific institutions in the Cuban Upper East and create a positive impact on the scientific, cultural, and social development of Cuban and African communities.
Sponsored by prestigious provincial institutions, including the Guantánamo University of Medical Sciences, the Symposium will be a space for in-depth analysis where physicians, dentists, epidemiologists, nurses, psychologists, educators, students, and other professionals will share experiences on the main health problems in the eastern territory.
