Guantanamo.- Paula Cisneros Robles and Milagros Garbey Hechevarría, who are members of the unions of Education, Science and Sports, and Civil Defense, respectively, were elected second and third direct delegates from Guantánamo, to the 22nd Congress of the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC), in ceremonies led by Juana Eglys Fernández Louit, general secretary of the CTC in the eastern territory.

Paula Cisneros is the second direct delegate from Guantánamo to the 22nd Congress of the CTC. She recognized for maintaining the status of National Vanguard for nine years, serving for more than two decades as municipal director of Sports with proven leadership and prestige in her workplace.

Regarding her election for the national event, she pointed out that this represents a commitment to the Revolution and a sign that working women can always be counted on, while she urged the union members to achieve better results in close unity.

For her part, Garbey Hecheverría works as a specialist in Safety and Occupational Health in the General Staff of the Border Brigade, an institution in charge of defending the dividing line with the territory illegally occupied by the North American Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, against the will of the Cuban people.

After the results were known by free and secret vote, she was surprised and also proud to be able to ratify in the future workers’ event the willingness of civilian workers to defend the Homeland in the first anti-imperialist trench of the country, together with the officers and combatants of the heroic Border Brigade.

Alexis Plutín Castellanos, administrator of the Alfonso Escalante Villa Basic Cooperative Production Unit (UBPC) and member of the Sugar Workers’ Union, was the first direct delegate from the Cuban Upper East elected to the workers’ Congress that will meet in April 2025, in the capital of the country.
