Guantánamo – A collaborative project for rabbit breeding is being developed at the Frank País Cooperative Basic Production Unit, located in the Soledad del Mango Community, in the El Salvador Municipality, in Guantanamo Province.

The president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, Eudis Ruiz, and the Mayor Yaritza Omaña Puente, arrived there to verify the progress of the project.

According to statements by Deisy Ardana Carnero, president of the Cooperative, the main objective of the project is to market meat at the agricultural fair in the El Salvador Municipality and in Guantánamo City.

Feeding rabbits is a priority for young Yoberlandi Duarte Rosabal, who through innovation created a feed with peanut and corn shell waste, which allows increasing the weight of the smallest offspring.

Marbelis Cardoza García is the specialist responsible for the care and welfare of the female breading rabbits, who said that animal-health management should be based on disease prevention.

The implementation of projects for the breeding of rabbits is another alternative for the development of the Turquino Plan in El Salvador Municipality.
