The Cuban pairs made up of Damián Gómez-Eblis Veranes (male) and Maykelín Drik-Mileidy Paret (female) won the silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the U-23 Norceca Continental Beach Volleyball Tournament, which took place in the Punta Cana resort.
The men’s pair, who had won the fifth phase of the 2024 Norceca circuit, faced the Salvadorans Christopher and Yoel Guardado, whom they beat with a victory in three sets (21-12; 19-21; 15-10) and thus qualified for the final.
In the gold medal match, the Guantanamo natives took silver after losing to the Americans Ayden Keeter and Carson Barnes, in two sets, both with a score of 21-18. The bronze went to the Guardado brothers, who beat the local duo of George Wilmore and Rolvin Maldonado 2-0 (21-9, 21-17).
The Cuban women’s duo, on the other hand, were defeated in the semifinals by the American Isabella Martínez-Ella Connor with partial scores of 21-17 and 21-11, but recovered in the match for third place, in which they beat the Costa Ricans Laura Molina and Aliza Aguilar in three sets (21-19; 22-24; 14-16).
