Guantánamo – The Mario Muñoz Monroy Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS), located in the Quiviján settlement, in Baracoa Municipality, was not exempt from the beating of the meteorological phenomenon Oscar, which devastated a large part of its productions.
This was confirmed by Tiotimo Muguercia Pérez, economic manager of the CCS, who explained that to date there are areas that have not been able to be reached due to the frequent rains that keep the Toa River swollen.
He said that according to assessment, more than 80 quintals of banana fruit and more than four hectares of coconut were lost after Hurricane Matthew in 2016, although he added that cocoa production did not suffer any damage.
