Guantanamo.-The recognition of the Guantanamo cultural sector for its intense work and the embrace of solidarity from the art during the recovery process after the passage of Hurricane Oscar, transcended in the Provincial Balance Assembly of this sector, held in the Plaza de Revolución Mariana Grajales, attended by Lizette Martínez Luzardo, Vice Minister of Culture in the country and Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party in the territory.
During the evaluation meeting, creators, together with directors of the institutional system of Culture and representatives of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) and the Provincial Committee of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) referred to the relevance of the constitution of a teaching unit in the specialty of theater, in order to guarantee the training of artists of this profile that contributes to the scenic groups of the territory, as well as the care and protection of monuments and historical sites.
The persistence of the deficit of art instructors in the network of Houses of Culture and encouraging more the circulation of the literary work of Guantanamo authors throughout all the municipalities of the province were other points arising from the discussion in this space, in which the main processes of the guild was critically reviewed adding a further perspective to the debate and projection to society as a whole.
The topic of heritage management from a cultural development perspective, which encourages the communication and promotion of its most authentic values, was also the focus of the debate at this meeting, which also addressed the significance of promoting knowledge of the National History from the sector and in this sense further strengthening the link with the educational sector, as well as being included in international collaboration projects.
The attention to the amateur artists’ movement, to mountainous areas and the strengthening of community work from cultural programming, and professional development were also issues analyzed at the meeting, that ended with the recognition of creators, sociocultural projects, artistic units, institutions and organizations with an outstanding work during the past year 2024.
