Guantánamo – The fifteenth edition of the Provincial Higher Education Event, held at the University of Guantánamo under a joint agreement with the University of Medical Sciences in the territory, is aimed at the role of the higher education system in social transformation.

The meeting was chaired by Alina Cantillo Quintero, First Vice-Rector of the University of Guantánamo; Yurelkys Fernández Maura, Vice-Rector of Science, Innovation, and Graduate Studies; Ada Luz Benítez Mallet, secretary of the Science, Education, and Sports Union; and the PhD. Idania Núñez La O, who is a full professor and honorary doctor at UG.

Under the theme “Innovation and Social Transformation: Higher Education’s Commitment to Sustainable and Inclusive Development,” the event will encourage the exchange of knowledge and experiences, learning, and the establishment of scientific and academic connections.

The event is one of the most important in Cuban Higher Education, bringing together professors and researchers from all the country’s universities with a shared vision of innovation and transformation, which is a necessity and requirement in line with the government’s management system.

The presented papers will be selected for the International Congress of Higher Education University 2026, which will take place in February of next year at the Havana Convention Center.
