The prevention and fight against drug possession, trafficking and use of illicit substances, is the purpose of the national exercise taking place this week throughout the country and in our province as part of monthly and systematic practices against these psychoactive substances.
It includes various actions such as exchanges with administrators of state and non-state nightclubs, neighborhood debates, inspections on farms, checks on storage and distribution systems for medications and other controlled substances in drug stores and the Doctor Agostinho Neto General Teaching Hospital, as well as the operation of the Mirando al Mar detachments in coastal municipalities such as Caimanera and those in the province’s eastern regions.
The operation, in which the provincial subgroup for Drug Prevention and Confrontation, led by Vice Governor Carlos Raúl Martínez Turro, participates, also reaches out to communities to raise risk perception and achieve greater family participation in drug education and protection.
This time, the exercise is unique in that it is carried out during the school recess following the victory at Playa Girón (Bay of Pigs). Therefore, activities in educational centers at different levels will take place in the Upper East from the 22nd to the 25th of this month.
The systematic and tireless fight against this scourge involves various institutional factors, political and mass organizations, and also seeks to mobilize society and families, demonstrating Cuba’s zero-tolerance policy toward drugs.
