The PhD. Martha del Carmen Mesa Valenciano, Cuban Parliamentary Representative, met with students and teachers from the José Maceo Grajales Vocational Complex in this eastern city this Thursday as part of the parliamentary visit that will take place this Thursday through April 26th in Cuba’s easternmost territory.

During her meeting with the students and teachers, Mesa Valenciano, president of the Education, Culture, Science, Technology, and Environment Commission, spoke about the quality of the educational process, the results of knowledge competitions and Olympics, as well as the preventive work to avoid drug use and teenage pregnancy, among other concerns.

Also during her visit to the educational institutions in Guantánamo, Marta del Carmen Mesa Valenciano visited the University of Guantánamo and attended the First Political-Ideological Workshop, an activity aimed at improving Higher Education.

Mesa Valenciano also highlighted the importance of these efforts for the country’s scientific and social development, emphasizing the key role of research in improving the population’s quality of life.

This visit will extend to other educational centers in the province of Guantánamo with the aim of strengthening the link between the highest body of state power with the agencies, entities, economic actors, and, in particular, with the voters, as fundamental pillars of national development.
