Guantánamo.- Cuban canoeist José Ramón Pelier won the silver medal in the C-1 Men 5000m event of the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup in Poznan, Poland.
As reported on the ICF website, Pelier, who is native from Guantanamo, finished second with 22:18.79 min, behind Hungary’s Adolf Balazs (22:11.47) and ahead of Germany’s Conrad-Robin Scheibner (23:38.95).
With this result, Cuba ends its performance in Poznan with only one medal, the same result as last weekend at the World Cup in Szeged, Hungary, where Pelier won the gold medal in the C-1 1000m competition.
The Cubans will now continue their preparation to compete in the 2025 Canoe Sprint World Championships, to be held on 20-24 August in Milan, Italy.
