Guantanamo.- The Rubén López Sabariego People’s Council hosted the 21st meeting of “Open Dialogue with the People,” an initiative led by Yoel Pérez García, the Party’s First Secretary in Guantánamo, who was accompanied by Alfonso Noya Martínez, President of the Institute of Information and Social Communication.

This space, launched a year ago in the Palmira neighborhood, consolidates a model of citizen participation that prioritizes the accountability of leaders and the collective solution to problems that concern the population today, such as the energy situation, public transportation, and the distribution of basic family food products, among other concerns.

In the Open Dialogue space held in front of the Reparto Obrero Commercial Complex, residents of this district also addressed other concerns, including tree pruning, solid waste collection, robbery, high prices of products, and the current situation at the Emergency Medical Clinic, located on Calle Dos.

This dialogue reaffirms that community engagement is the most effective tool for addressing crises. As Yoel Pérez García noted:

“These are not protocol meetings; here, the executives involved are required to be accountable.”

The continuity of the project, now extended to Reparto Obrero, People’s Council Number One, with a population of over 19,000, reflects its value in the collective action to overcome problems caused by the blockade and the economic tensions facing the country.
