Guantánamo.- The Municipal Assembly of People’s Power is being held in Guantánamo with the presence of José Ramón Machado Ventura and the highest Cuban Communist Party and government officials of the province.

The Guantanamo delegates discuss key issues such as prevention with a critical analysis of the functioning of the prevention committees of each people’s council, the work with vulnerable groups, and compliance with regulations such as the Family Code in pursuit of building a more just society.

Idaliena Diaz Casamayor, president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power (AMPP, in Spanish abbreviation), reports on the territory’s actions to transform this reality and proposes to the Governing Board the creation of a homeless classification center to follow up on these cases.

The issue of banking access is also being analyzed, primarily the lack of cash due to the decrease in deposits from micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and the refusal of several stakeholders to allow payments by bank transfer (illustrating the cases of the Agricultural Fair).

They point out the difficulties with Enzona as it is the only payment platform offered by some entities for payments and access to the extra cash, and some also set limits on transfers.

More than 180 decree laws have been applied to penalize noncompliance with regulations, amounting to more than 1 million pesos, a figure lower than previous stages.

The delegates demand stricter actions, a joint confrontation from multiple sectors, with measures such as confiscation, reporting for tax evasion, hoarding, illicit enrichment, etc.
